Prague's Old Town Christmas Market

Christmas and winter festivities are massive celebration in our household and probably always will be. My brother and I, although not heavily religious, have always been showered in love and been brought up with Christmas being a massive deal. DM and grandmother have shared their love of Christmas with my brother and I. As both a child and adult, Christmas has always been a time of family and enjoyment for all, whether that be arts and crafts, decorating the tree or eating ALL of the scrumptious food throughout December.

This was the second trip of ours that we went on together; we had not ever been on a winter trip so packing a suitcase full of jumpers instead of shorts seemed almost foreign to us. Nevertheless, our early December 5 day trip was booked months in advance.

I committed a lot of time to finding the right Christmas break for us. I wanted a mix of authentic and charming, full of festive cheer. Prague, in 2017, was rated one of the top European Christmas Markets so- at the fantastic price- it seemed almost too good to miss.

With our jumpers and mini tree for the room packed, we headed off to BHX.

Hotel

We stayed in the most beautiful hotel just a 20 minute walk from Old Town, in an authentic area called Letenska. Our hotel, Royal Palace, is exactly that and is full of plush fabrics and princess-like four poster beds.

We had major delays with our flight as BHX was covered in a blanket of snow, meaning the airport was bursting the the seams, and more importantly- FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS. After a four hour delay, we jumped aboard another Jet2.com plane, arriving in Prague later than expected.

Transfers

We had booked our transfers from the airport to the hotel with Prague Transfers which was a really savvy move of ours. We had private transfers from the aiport to the hotel, in a really clean and comfortable taxi. The gentleman helped with our luggage and was there, ready and waiting, despite our delayed flight. The staff at the hotel were also very accommodating and were awaiting our arrival.

Christmas Market

We visited Prague in 2017 and, despite wanting to travel and explore different European Markets, we have both agreed Prague will forever be our favourite. Everything about Czech Republic's capital stole our heart: the quaintness of the districts, Old Town's Christmas Market, and the detail within the Astronomical Clock.
